GTX 1060 COMPUTE Benchmarks
You can watch our YouTube video on the topic click the link below.
So given the RX 480’s performance, We wanted to see how the NVIDIA $399 card is at with compute…
6700k – 32gb DDR4 – SM961 SSD
We ran some Synthetic tests below; Geekbench 4, Luxmark 2.1 and 3.0, Cinebench, Compubench, and GPUTEST 0.7.0
We see the RX 480 take some tests out, But also the 980 edging out others.
We ran some Playback tests below; Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro
We see no real change in either of the cards, The only performance difference we see is in Premiere Pro where we can playback smoothly at 1/8 quality on the 980 4gb but the others are at 1/4 quality.
Now to some more “Real World” test; Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
On short exports we dont see vast improvements from any card, in the longer render we see the GTX 980 lag behind both other cards.
Now to the “Candle Light” test; Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve
No real clear winner again although the GTX 1060 got the most frames overall.
No doubt the GTX 1060 and RX 480 are great value orientated cards, The GTX 980 is still good though if your looking to upgrade to either card i dont think its worth it though. Maybe a GTX Titan X Maxwell on the second hand market would be a better consideration for you, There price to performance if you can get one around the $1000 mark is really good value at this stage.
As always thanks for reading & watching
